(San Mateo, CA, and Toronto, ON, January 23, 2013) - NetRead Software and Services, LLC, a solutions-provider to the book industry, announced an extension of its partnership with Harlequin, one of the world's leading publishers of books for women. Per the terms of the agreement, NetRead will distribute the digital cover images for Harlequin through its product JacketCaster. NetRead has disseminated Harlequin’s print and ebook metadata for several years.
“We're proud to expand our agreement with Harlequin. We see them as a leader in the publishing industry and they have a significant position in digital sales,” said Greg Aden, CEO of NetRead Software and Services, LLC. “We’re pleased that they’ve turned to our content delivery system with this essential asset.”
NetRead has been an integral part of the publishing process since 2000, when it launched JacketCaster to address the newly created ONIX standard. Images can be distributed as a data element of the ONIX record, but many booksellers prefer receipt of the actual digital images as a separate file and NetRead has always hosted and delivered this asset. NetRead supports this process through a multitude of distribution protocols and it bulletproofs the process through a proprietary approach that guarantees the result.
Harlequin has built upon its strength as a publisher of great reading entertainment for women by progressively expanding the range of its content to include commercial literary fiction, young adult fiction and nonfiction as well as romance, and is available to readers wherever, whenever and however women want to shop.
