CAP Ventures is the leading strategic consultant to the print-on-demand industry. CAP provides research, consulting, and training services to a wide range of clients--equipment, software, and supplies vendors, commercial printers, and other technology users. They publish two magazines (Print on Demand Business and Print on Demand Solutions, as well as reports, studies, newsletters, and books. Their book Print-on-Demand Opportunity: Technology, Products, & the Business is available here. CAP Ventures is a consultant to NetRead, Inc.

iPrint. Branded merchandise. Users can design and order business cards, mailing labels, coffee mugs, baseball caps, etc. NetRead has an affiliate agreement with iPrint.

PrintBid.com has the largest directory of printers in the U.S. (over 62,000), with detailed profiles on their in-house equipment, product specialties, employee base, and annual sales, plus a profile of their typical print buyer and links to their web sites. Print buyers can fill out an electronic Request for Quote (RFQ) that is forwarded to the printers they select. Everything is free for all parties. NetRead has an affiliate agreement with PrintBid.

Printing Industry Exchange, LLC "provides printing quotes from the best printing companies in the USA and beyond to print buyers for all types of printing services in the graphic arts industry, commercial & corporate businesses, small & minority-owned businesses, general public . . . direct from our commercial printing company members."

Professional Organizations

Printing Industries of America. "In continuous operation since 1887 and headquartered in Alexandria, VA, Printing Industries of America, Inc., (PIA) is the world's largest graphic arts trade association representing an industry with more than 1 million employees and $149 billion in sales annually. PIA promotes the interests of over 14,000 member companies.... Many of PIA's members are commercial printers, allied graphic arts firms such as electronic imaging companies, equipment manufacturers, and suppliers."

The National Association for Printing Leadership provides services and publications to the industry. Their Web site has links to 10 periodicals they publish, live chat, discussions, an "online marketplace," and a calendar of upcoming events. According to their site, their membership includes "90% of America's fastest-growing printers."

Printing Industry Credit Executives Inc., "a non profit membership association formed in 1977, is regarded as the printing industry's leading resource for credit information and assistance. The 100+ membership roster represents the country's major printers of books, publications, direct mail, inserts and high quality advertising and general commercial printing. Membership provides a variety of facilities to improve credit, collection and management techniques."
